Cassy and Jonathan’s Summer Countryside Wedding

These high school sweethearts—Cassy and Jonathan—were the winners of our Ring in the New Year giveaway this past January! And, the time finally came for them to have the wedding of their dreams—a rustic, country-esque August celebration surrounded by many, many family members and friends.

One thing that completely stood out to me on their day was the fact they chose to have their videographer create a short film before their event to play at the start of their reception. It incorporated the letters they’d written to each other over the past 10 years, and a video of their engagement shoot—painting the perfect picture of their love for one another and the amazing milestones they’ve hit. It was the most unique, special addition to a wedding I had ever seen!

And, here’s a little fun fact for you: I met Cassy in college, and we’ve been great friends ever since. She actually caught the bouquet at my own wedding back in 2014! So, it’s obvious I was very excited to share her special day with you.

Not to mention, Cassy picked out some of our event rentals to incorporate into her decor—from barrels to burlap runners, banners, crates, and more.

Okay, I won’t keep you waiting any longer! We hope you enjoy reading this wedding day recap from none other than the bride herself. And, many thanks goes out to CLG Photography for sharing some great moments captured of this August day.

How did you two meet? How did he pop the question? Tell us your story! Jonathan and I have known each other since middle school where we both participated in track together. It wasn't until the 2006 Fall Fest dance, however, that the "crush" officially started. On October 9th, 2006 Jonathan asked me to be his girlfriend in the Conway Springs High School parking lot. We never imagined where we would be 10 years later!

During high school, we had a lot of fun hanging out with friends and being teenagers. I graduated high school and attended Pitt State in 2009 and Jonathan joined me in Pittsburg in 2010. We met an amazing group of friends there and had our fair share of fun. In December of 2012, we moved back home to a house in the country and started our careers.

Then, on June 30th, 2016 Jonathan asked me to marry him. We were fishing and boy was I surprised!

Where did you allocate the most funds? The reception with a dinner and open bar.

Where did you allocate the least funds? Flowers and cake - we kept it simple, yet both were still beautiful.

What was totally worth it? The photo booth was a huge hit!

Share a few things that helped you along the way with planning a wedding. Facebook, wedding websites, the Wedding Planner by WeddingWire app, and McKenzie helped a lot, too!

Tell us about some of the songs you used throughout your wedding and why you chose them. Our first dance song was to Brad Paisley’s “She's Everything.” It was our high school love song. The song that played while we cut the cake and toasted was Logan Mize’s “That’s What I Love About You.” Logan’s hometown is close to ours, and I’m his biggest fan! We played a lot of his songs that night. Our father daughter dance song was to Garth Brooks’ “Unanswered Prayers.” It’s a song that means a lot to us—remember some of God’s greatest gifts, our unanswered prayers, and keep believing because God has a plan. And, we also played Pitbull’s “Timber.” It’s a song me and my girls’ favorite line dance—you can’t have a party without it!

Your best practical advice to a soon-to-be bride. People will not notice the tiny things at your wedding. When the day comes, just enjoy it...every minute. Don't stress about anything—just take it all in and cherish every moment.

What's next for you as a couple? What memories are you looking forward to making together? We just came back from our honeymoon in the Dominican Republic. We stayed at an all inclusive resort in Punta Cana for a week. We LOVED it! After almost 11 years, I finally convinced Jonathan that vacations are incredible and much needed. Now, we plan to enjoy married life for a while and our long term goals include owning a house and starting a family.

Let us know one thing that WOWed you while working with McKenzie Phillips. ONE THING? There are so many things! She is so on top of it. She just gets stuff done and is very organized. Absolutely wouldn't of had the day I did without her!
