Kendall’s Shabby Chic Floral 1st Birthday Celebration

McKenzie’s daughter was turning one just last month, so how could we not feature her adorable first birthday party on the blog? The Phillips family threw a beautiful, blossoming spring celebration at the charming Vintage House for their little Kendall.

From the handmade time capsule box to open when she turns 18 to the shabby chic decor and tutu, deliciously blush pink and cream sweet treats, and so much more, there’s no doubt it was a party to remember.

Today, McKenzie herself shares a recap of what made her daughter’s first birthday so special. Thanks to Tara Marie Photography for capturing these sweet moments!

Our sweet and spunky Kendall Kay is one! Her first year has FLOWN by. She is always keeping us on our toes, and melting our hearts with her kisses and huge snuggly hugs. I don’t know how life would be without her in it. My life changed forever when I became a mom, and I will always cherish the first moments we spent together when she was born—and every day since!

April is a favorite month of mine, especially now with it being Kendall’s birthday month. I’ve always pictured it as a month of “blooming,” making it a beautiful month—everything coming to life. I had to carry on that theme into her first birthday party as she blossoms into such a beautiful young girl.

I began planning Kendall’s birthday in October 2016. And, yes, I realize that may seem a bit crazy. But, being an event coordinator, all who know me understand I just get so giddy about this stuff! So, I had to make Kendall’s birthday just as unique to her as all the other events I plan.

How many friends, family members, and loved ones were in attendance? 22

What’s your favorite memory from the party? Kendall wasn’t a fan of the smash cake. Nathan and I both tried to put her hands into it and she hated the mess. It was hilarious! She is just like her mom!

What did Kendall enjoy doing the most at her party? Playing out on the patio and watching the kids blow bubbles.

What’s your best practical advice for those looking to throw a 1st birthday party? Keep it small and intimate. We decided to only invite immediate family and a few close friends. We didn’t want things to get too crazy or for Kendall to feel overwhelmed.
