Kathleen & Josh’s Nighttime Breakfast Party at The Hobbs Building
These two peas in a pod were equally involved in the wedding planning process—from start to finish! One thing I loved about working with them is that Josh came to every single meeting with Kathleen. And, throughout our time together, I could tell these two were made for each other.
So, when the time came for their special celebration at The Hobbs Building in Kansas City on a beautiful 82-degree day in September, I was beyond excited to see their visions come to life! Side note: credit for awesome weather could very well be given to Kathleen and Josh following an old southern tradition of burying a full bottle of whiskey—top down—exactly one month before and near the grounds of where vows will be exchanged. How cool is that?!
Best of all, they incorporated many of their favorite things for a wow-worthy reception, which made it all the more magical and unique. From a donut wall crafted from their favorite delicious fried dough confectioneries (and even a custom-made flavor to match their hashtag #MeantToBailey) from Doughnut Lounge, to biscuits and gravy for a dinnertime entreé, the two truly put much thought into making this their best party yet.
And, that brings us to today’s recap from the radiant bride as we reminisce on this lovely wedding day. Many thanks goes out to Margaret Bedwell Photography for sharing some unforgettable moments with us!

Tell us about some of the songs you used throughout your wedding and why you chose them. Mostly classic songs. We didn't really choose much music because we trusted our band enough.

Your best practical advice to a soon-to-be bride. Ignore the haters. It's your day, so make it exactly how you and your fiancé want it to be. Pick one to two things to prioritize and one to two things that don't matter in the budget.

Let us know one thing that WOWed you while working with McKenzie Phillips. Her tenacity—she worked through personal health pain and still made our day perfect!
